Aventures at Knotts

We had fun going on our annual Law Enforcement Days at Knotts. We were a little concerned when we were escorted over the grapevine in a snow storm...

Everyone else must have thought the weather was going to be bad because there was hardly anyone there, short or no lines is great! The line to one of our favorite rides The Jaguar

No luck finding the septic tank

Well Blaine and I went back to the cabin on Sat. We tried using a metal detector to find the septic tank but never could find it? We did however get the hot tub and old couch bed (that we couldn't fit last trip) loaded in the trailer, so no more junk pile outside the cabin. Now just to haul off all the junk under the cabin, one trip at a time. It's nice to have a trailer now. I did get to vacuum the cabin put more poison out and make all the beds. It was only 36 degrees and very foggy up there. I want to get the toilet fixed, it's no fun having to go behind a bush. We do have running water and hot water so that is good. We'll try again to find the septic tank. It's so quiet and peaceful up in the mountains and the air is so fresh. If anyone knows a plumber?

Boy I'm sore, and a rat story

Well I rented a u-haul trailer for 22.00 and picked up Garrett and Jessie at 7:00 am and went to the cabin to haul off some junk. 4 wheel drive is great!! I went down and up to the spot where the junk pile lays and we were able to get almost all of it in that pile. We got 2 couch beds the old spa cover, some old BBQ's and other trash. It was hardest to get that couch bed crammed in there but once it was full we shoved the door shut. Then we put some garbage bags full in the back of the FJ. We went inside and ate some sandwiches that we brought up. It was in the 40's up there. We saw 4 dear by the cabin on our way in and a coyote on our way out. All that is left of the pile is the hot tub hull and part of the other couch bed that we could not fit, those can go in Blaine's trailer next time we go up with a metal detector to find the septic tank for sure then dig down and see if it is full. If not that we'll rent an electric snake to see if one of the leach lines is plugged. Hopefully we'll have toilets soon. We do have running water. Once at the dump, how many Holsonbake's does it take to back up a trailer in a small area that is coned off? I tried but got frustrated, I know to turn the wheel the opposite way you want it to go and got close but I didn't want to hit the big dump truck right next to where we were supposed to go, so I got out and directed Garrett, "turn this way a little no the other way no back the other way, lol, finally the dump worker came over and moved the cone down giving us more room. We packed it so full we couldn't get anything to budge pulling out, so all three of us grabbing the couch bed, heave, it moves an inch, heave an inch more, finally it came out and then we could pull the rest out. Garrett pulling out a bed box spring, yelled A RAT, Jessie and I screamed and jump back. I thought it would be dead. He dropped the box spring and the cutest BIG gray rat was sitting inside wiggling his nose looking at us, he was so cute. Garrett felt bad that we took him from his mountain home and little rat family and left him at the desolate dump. We thought maybe he could make a run for it and make to the foothills, lol. What a day, I'm exhausted. I do want to go back and clean the inside of the cabin and vacuum and make all the beds etc. Maybe in a couple of Saturdays? The ground needs some rain soaking so we can dig up the septic tank when we find it.
