Beautiful Day At The Beach

We went to Ventura for the day. The weather was beautiful, there was almost no wind just a light breeze and lots of sunshine. Blaine and I and Grannie, Devonn, Carla and the boys came and Jazmine brought Tiffny. The boys had so much fun running from the waves and Blaine enjoyed his nap on the beach. I had fun burying James in the sand and then Devonn buried Andrew. Jazmine and Tiffny went for a walk on the pier. On our way home we went to Emilee and Gary's house for a yummy BBQ of chicken and hot dogs, chips and dip. Jazmine and Tiffny got to play a little Wii. I love the smell of the ocean and the sound of the waves crashing, it was nice to get away!

We had a nice time at Staci's graduation. There were 5800 students graduating, luckily they had earlier ceremonies with their department walking across the stage, at this graduation they honored the medalist from each department and then had them stand as a group and confer their Bachelorett (sp) Degree. It still took 2 1/2 hours but we were in the Save Mart Center so it wasn't too bad. We then went to Staci's for her and her boyfriend Nik's graduation party. Lots of family there and we enjoyed a catered Mexican Meal. Next will be Devonn and Quinn. After the graduation party we went by the hospital to see Danni Lynn. She is growing, she was sleeping a lot, Our prayers are with her for a speedy recovery and lasting remission. I still would like Dad to give her a blessing but we would have to get permission first. Dad tool a lot of pictures on his cell phone, I'll have to download them to my computer. Garrett and Jessie are coming to church with us today, he says he wants to come back to church. Time to go get ready.

Cabin Memories

I am truly going to miss the cabin, I just wanted to jog down a few of my memories. I was 16 when Granddaddy bought the cabin, I learned to drive driving up there. I remember the first time Blaine went up with me, my college roommate Michelle was with me and he caught a bat in the cabin, lol. Granddaddy added on so we had lots of room. I remember taking the kids up there for a week one summer, at night we would build a campfire and sit around it telling ghost stores. The kids loved to hike, lift up logs and find lizards and snakes, we would bring Tasha our dog and she loved to chase the ducks at the pond. I remember taking up lots of the kids friends for birthday parties and snow days. We would bring up the Young Women, the Young Men, Highland's choir and the Scouts. At one point it was the scouts favorite camping spot. I remember the kids sleeping in sleeping bags out on the balcony. One year we went up and some of the kids slept out in the suburban. It snowed heavy overnight and they couldn't see out the window. We made a tradition of going up on Veteran's Day every year, cousin Sally would come and Richard and his friend Jimmy. The kids always brought friends. I remember Terrell falling head first down the stairs in the middle of the night, he wasn't hurt badly but it sure was funny listening to the kids tell it over and over. I remember Blaine driving so fast he made kids that never get car sick throw up in the car. Some memorable ones that threw up in our Van or just out the door were Kenny Ricks, Meaghan Jackson, Ammon Rassmussen, Tiffny Buie, and a few others that I can't remember their names, lol. I remember Devonn and Adam staying up all night playing cards, and brother Carson falling asleep on the chair by the fire. I remember playing oldies on the radio and Bro. Beesely having a dance party with the young women. I remember the highlight of the cabin being the hot tub. We would enjoy the snow till we were numb then go jump in the hot tub. I have so many many pictures but will only post a few. I will miss the cabin but will always have my memories.

Sad Cabin News

Well the lady that said she would sell the cabin back to us for what she paid at auction changed her mind. We have to go up there and get all of our stuff out tomorrow. I had planned on spending the day with Andrew but at least he gets to spend the night. I was really sad, Andrew makes it better. He drew a picture of him hugging me and put it on my dresser next to the one of him hugging Papa. I took some silly pictures of him, after we watched Toy Story 2. We are going to watch Ghost Whisperer with popcorn in a little while. I love my Andyroo lovin. We were upstairs and I heard a car and said oh Quinn's home, Andrew yelled uncle Quinn and took off running down the stairs with me quickly behind him saying hold the rail don't go too fast. He ran and hugged Quinn around his legs, so cute, he just melts your heart.

Sweet Rusty

We buried Rusty today, he was the sweetest dog I think we ever had. We got him at the pound, he was blind in one eye and just brought in after being left at a truck stop in Delano. What a sweet dog, dad took one look at him wagging his tail all excited and we had to have him. He was about 14 years old, he had diabetes and complications of pancreitis, liver failure and kidney failure. The vet said she probably would not be able to save him and that he was uncomfortable having difficulty breathing, so we held him and loved on him and kissed his nose and they put him to sleep. He just peacefully went to sleep. What a good dog he was. We will miss you Rusty. we have lots of pictures of Rusty in Albums and with his cute hair cut he always got each summer, sometime I'll go find them and scan some. This was taken on Quinn's birthday in 2000.
